A nursing opportunity is available for experienced registered nurses specialized in Stepdown care within a contracted position located in the vibrant city of Kansas City, MO. This role emphasizes advanced nursing skills in progressive care units, blending patient care with critical monitoring and emergency response expertise. Candidates are expected to have a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a preference for those who have served in charge roles or in teaching hospitals. First-time stepdown nurses will be considered. The role requires certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS, reflecting the acute and dynamic nature of the patient population served. Shifts are primarily nights with a commitment to about 8 weekend shifts over a 6-week schedule, ensuring ample opportunities for work-life balance. Key qualifications and desired experience include: Proficiency in multiple acute care settings including Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown units Expertise in cardiac monitoring and management of dysrhythmias with the ability to work with rapid response teams Knowledge of cardiovascular patient care, including post-cardiac surgery and interventions Skill in managing endocrine, renal, and gastrointestinal support therapies, such as IV insulin protocols and feeding tube management Competency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration with central and peripheral line care Familiarity with respiratory support techniques, including tracheostomy and non-invasive airway management Capacity to adhere to strict isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac management Flexibility to float across various units, including emergency department inpatient holding areas, to meet facility needs The schedule includes 12-hour night shifts from approximately 18:45 to 07:15, with three shifts guaranteed every 13 weeks.
